Our approach – why we do what we do

We have spent many years in the fitness industry, not only as trainers, but also as clients and competitors in our respective sports. We’ve seen trends come and go, and we know what works and what doesn’t.

Over time, we became dismayed at the quality of information and advice that passed for training, and the reliance on gimmicks, gadgets and trends to acquire clients. Not only are some of these fads unproductive, some are positively dangerous.

In response to this, we started Function Force, and created an environment where we could focus on the principals of functional training and its benefits, and spread our own brand of exercise gospel.

So what exactly is functional training?

Functional training is based on activating a large group of muscles simultaneously. This teaches the body to work efficiently with compounded movements, and emphasises correct posture and gait. You’re not going to find anyone at our gym doing bicep curls so they can walk around in summer with a singlet on! We’re all about making you fitter and healthier, while helping you avoid injury, and achieve your training goals.

These principals apply to all the training we provide at Function Force. Whether you’re interested in gaining strength, losing weight, cardio fitness, boxing, running, you’ll find functional training – with a strong focus on technique and control – smack bang at the centre of it.

The gym was created specifically to be an environment that gives our clients confidence to push their boundaries. All of our equipment, expertise and resources goes in to keeping you honest, in control of your movements, and working towards your goals.
